Pausing Synchronization Tasks

Published by Marc Bednar on April 14, 2025

Overview

OrderCloud allows you to temporarily pause the synchronization of product and EntitySync data while making changes to your entities. When the sync is resumed, all changes made during the pause will be synced to the specified delivery configuration targets.

For example, if you pause EntitySync for InventoryRecords, you can make multiple changes to various inventory records. Once you un-pause EntitySync for InventoryRecords, all the changes made during the pause will be synced to your defined delivery configuration targets.

Operations that require a full catalog resync are handled by this feature. This ensures that multiple operations affecting the catalog don’t trigger redundant resyncs. For example, when assigning new buyers to the catalog, the feature will consolidate the changes and sync the catalog only once, even if several buyers are added at the same time.

If the pause/un-pause feature isn’t used, these operations will not automatically trigger a catalog resync. In such cases, you can manually initiate a resync through the self-service section of the portal.

Limitations

  • Delete operations cannot be paused and will be synced immediately.
